More than 1600 students from 30 schools attended the career expo in the La Crosse Center.
LA CROSSE, Wisc. (WXOW) – Area high schoolers got a chance to see what opportunities wait for them after they graduate.
Over 1600 students from nearly 30 different schools made their way to the La Crosse Center for a career and college expo.
The students got the opportunity to meet with 27 different career speakers who gave presentations about the specific fields they work in. Students were then able to roam around and explore the over 70 different booths of colleges and post-secondary options.
Tyler Ludeking, one of the organizers of the expo and K-12 partnership specialist at Western Technical College, says that having both career and college opportunities at the same event is a huge advantage for the students.
“So to be able to speak with a career expo person first to kind of have an idea of maybe the background they come from, what education they might have, etcetera. And then be able to transition over to the college fair gives them an opportunity to say, hey I just learned about this from a career side of things now can you give me some information on some post-secondary options.”
The expo ran from 9 am to 1:30 pm. Ludeking says that they will continue to put on this event as it has proven itself to be a vital resource for the youth of our community.
